ACLA

Project Overview

The Asociación Cultural Latino-Acadiana (ACLA), a cornerstone of the Hispanic community in Acadiana, was hindered by a dated and unmaintained Wix website. The site’s confusing architecture, monolingual content, and lack of engagement tools created barriers for the very community it aimed to serve. Haketi partnered with ACLA to develop a new, modern website that not only simplifies navigation but also captures the spirit of Latino culture, bridges language gaps, and empowers community action through donation and volunteer portals.

The Client

The Asociación Cultural Latino-Acadiana (ACLA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving, celebrating, and sharing the rich Latino culture throughout Acadiana, Louisiana. They are the organizers of the popular Latin Music Festival and serve as a vital information hub for the local Hispanic community, promoting cultural events, sharing news, and fostering unity.

The Challenge

ACLA’s previous Wix website was failing to meet the fundamental needs of a modern non-profit. The primary issues were:

  • Confusing Information Architecture: The site’s structure was disorganized, leaving visitors unable to easily find event dates, news, or contact details.

  • Lack of Engagement Pathways: There were no integrated tools for the community to provide support. Potential donors and volunteers had no clear or simple way to contribute online.

  • Language Barrier: The website existed only in English, excluding a significant portion of the Spanish-speaking community it was created to serve and support.

  • Outdated and Lifeless Design: The aesthetic was generic and did not reflect the vibrant, colorful, and energetic nature of the Latino culture ACLA represents.

The Solution

Haketi focused on creating a user-centric, functional, and culturally resonant digital platform for ACLA.

  1. Intuitive, Bilingual Navigation: We completely overhauled the website’s architecture and implemented full bilingual (English/Spanish) functionality. A user-friendly language switcher allows visitors to experience the entire site in their preferred language, ensuring maximum accessibility and inclusion.

  2. Integrated Community Action Tools: To drive the organization’s mission, we embedded key functionalities directly into the site. This includes a secure online donation portal to facilitate fundraising and a simple, clear volunteer sign-up form to encourage community participation.

  3. Vibrant, Culturally-Inspired Design: We introduced a new color palette and visual identity infused with the bright, warm, and energetic colors representative of Latin American culture. The design is now a true digital celebration of the community.

  4. Modern, Easy-to-Update Platform: We migrated ACLA to a modern content management system (CMS), empowering the team to effortlessly publish posts, update event calendars, and manage all content in both English and Spanish.

The Results

The new website has successfully re-established ACLA as a powerful digital hub for the Latino-Acadiana community:

  • Increased Community Support: The new donation and volunteer portals have created streamlined, accessible channels for financial support and participation, boosting ACLA’s operational capabilities.

  • Expanded Audience Reach: By offering a fully bilingual experience, the website now effectively serves both English and Spanish speakers, significantly broadening its reach and impact within the community.

  • Drastically Improved User Experience: Visitors can now find the information they need in their preferred language quickly and easily, leading to higher engagement.

  • Strengthened Cultural Identity: The new design authentically reflects the vibrancy of Latino culture, creating a welcoming and exciting online space that fosters a sense of pride and belonging.
