UX/UI Designer

Job Summary

As a UX/UI Designer, you’ll be crucial in creating user-focused interfaces for web and mobile applications. You will collaborate with designers, developers, and project managers to influence the design process from start to finish. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about creating engaging and impactful user experiences that delight and inspire.

Job Type: Contract

Location: Lafayette, Louisiana (preferred) or Remote. Even though Lafayette, LA is a preferred location, this job is fully remote.

Responsibilities

  • Meet and collaborate with stakeholders to understand project goals, user needs, and business objectives.
  • Conduct user research, usability testing, and analysis to inform design decisions.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups that effectively communicate design concepts and interactions.
  • Develop user flows, personas, and journey maps to guide the design process.
  • Ensure consistency and coherence across all digital touchpoints, including websites, mobile apps, and other interactive experiences.
  • Work closely with developers to ensure seamless implementation of designs, and provide guidance and support throughout the development process.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest design trends, tools, and technologies, and advocate for best practices within the team.
  • Collaborate with other designers to review and provide feedback on design work, fostering a culture of creativity and continuous improvement.
  • Communicate design concepts and rationale effectively to internal stakeholders and clients, and incorporate feedback into iterative design iterations.
  • Champion human-centered design principles and advocate for the importance of usability and accessibility in all design decisions.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a UX/UI Designer, with a strong portfolio showcasing your design process and outcomes.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Pencil, or similar.
  • Experience with prototyping tools such as Axure or Proto.io.
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles, usability testing methodologies, and information architecture.
  • Excellent visual design skills with a keen eye for typography, color, and layout.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team environment and communicate design decisions clearly and persuasively.
  • Familiarity with front-end development technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is a plus.
  • Experience with motion design, illustration, or 3D modeling is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with WordPress themes as classic themes or via page builders (Gutenberg-based preferred).
